“The Man who Made Angels Fly” is a poignant and intimate unmasking of European puppet master, Michael Meschke who, through a lifetime of creating almost human characters, has inspired audiences of many nationalities to reflect upon common issues of suffering and mortality; betrayal, love, fear, death, morality and domination, within the social and political context of repression, atrocity and the struggle for human rights. Meschke artfully presents the constant pull between good and evil. The mirror bond created between marionette and man through Meschke’s story-telling is what he calls the exercise of life, which gives the documentary its essence.
